MediLexicon International Achieves Good Growth In 2008-2009

MediLexicon International Limited is pleased to announce a trading profit of £302,900, before director's remuneration, for the financial year 1st April 2008 - 31st March 2009.

The Medical News Today website saw over 26,000,000 visits for the year 1st April, 2008 - 31st March 2009; a 15% increase on the previous year. The number of page views exceeded 39,000,000, which is a 15% increase over the figures for 2007/2008. Visitors from the UK, India, the Philippines, Germany and Ireland all increased by over 30%, with a strong growth of 11% in the primary US audience. Medical News Today's free access database now contains over 164,000 medical news articles, creating a valuable reference tool for patients and health care professionals alike.

MediLexicon has experienced an astounding 43% increase in visits and a 30% increase in page views over the totals for 2007/2008. The introduction of a search gadget for MediLexicon, which users can place on their Google homepage and website designers can use in their websites, has increased the accessibility of MediLexicon's search results and has contributed to this increase in visitors.

Hospitals Worldwide has also experienced rapid growth, with the average number of visits per month increasing from 40,000 to over 150,000, due to the changes introduced in late 2008.

A number of significant changes have been made to the Medical News Today website this year:
  • The addition of 16 new medical channels.

  • The introduction of 14 information hubs for various conditions.

  • The addition of 225 'What Is' condition articles since February 2009, bringing the total number to 330, with an improvement in the interlinking within articles.

  • Creation of the homepage personalization system, adding greater accessibility for the end user to view the news that is applicable to them.

  • The addition of Twitter news feeds, allowing users to keep up-to-date with our news in their Twitter pages.

  • The introduction of a Medical News Today application on Facebook (view it here).

  • The donation of the 300x250 advert unit on the Aid Disasters channel to the International Medical Corps each month since September 2008.
