Second Phase of Medical News Today Re-design Completed and Live

Release date: 31 July 2007

The second phase of development work on www.medicalnewstoday.com has been completed and the new site design is now live. As part of our programme of continual improvement, the new site design has been several months in development, following extensive research into industry best practice and end-user surveys.

The new site improves the end-user experience in many ways; latest category news, related articles and additional rich media services are now contextually linked to each article helping users to find the information they need quickly. Article layout, menu items and other icons have also been re-designed to be easier on the eye and allow more intuitive navigation.

The home page, category main pages and all article pages have been redeveloped as static pages improving the speed of the site with pages loading faster than ever. Site reliability has also been upgraded as part of the development work with a more robust system in place that will allow the site to be viewed even if the database in unavailable.

The Healthology-provided (part of NBC Universal) health video content in now fully integrated into the site and is easily accessible from all article pages.

Advertising units have also been adjusted to accommodate demand from agencies, with the 300 X 250 (the most popular size for video ads) ad unit being moved above the fold.

The development work will also improve natural SEO in the major search engines.
